Continue your journey to the Dyrhólaey Headland, a natural reserve where many seabirds nest in the summer. Visit the spectacular black beach of Reynisdrangar where huge basalt columns seem to rise from the ocean to meet the sky. Continue to the charming town of Vik, the southernmost town in the country. The Mid-Atlantic ridge runs right through Þingvellir forming an impressive rift valley where Iceland is drifting apart at the rate of 2 cm per year.
