Itinerary

We fly to Höfn in Hornafjördur, a young town partially framed by Vatnajökull glacier. This glacier and its various tongues flow along steep mountainsides, gently dominating the region’s coastline. Our coach then drives us to Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon, a mystical space dotted with huge aqua icebergs. An otherworldly cruise is taken on the lagoobn, zigzagging between the imposing bergs.
After the cruise, we travel to the base of Vatnajökull glacier, where we slowly meander up the mountain track and notice that most everything we see becomes white. At the staging area, we can have some light refreshments of our choice in the glacier lodge before donning protective jumpsuits, helmets and gloves. After brief instruction we head into a world of splendid simplicity. The sights and sounds and silences of this stunning environment offer an exhilarating experience. There is only the now. We then return to the airport for the flight to back to Reykjavík.
