Car pick up and a visit to the Greenhouse Town
Get ready for an exciting day of sightseeing along the south coast and the magnificent highland area of Landmannalaugar. In the morning you will be picked up and taken to the car rental office where you will receive your 4x4 vehicle.
Head to the outskirts of the city to the scenic South Coast. First on the agenda is a visit to the greenhouse community at Hveragerði town. Steam from natural vents rises into the air around this small charming town. This geothermal activity is harnessed for greenhouses to operate all year round. Next up is a visit to Selfoss town before heading inland to the unspoiled highlands.

Landmannalaugar
Landmannalaugar is a hiking paradise and a natural wonder located in the highlands of Iceland. Colourful mountains and natural, geothermal hot springs can be found here making this the perfect destination for the nature lover. After spending a few hours exploring the area you can soak in the warm natural pool before heading back to Reykjavik.

Relax in the Blue Lagoon
Head back towards Reykjavik. For those who are interested and have time we recommend continuing to Reykjanes peninsula to explore the area and even visit the Blue Lagoon to enjoy a relaxing bath in the mineral rich waters. Continue back to Reykjavik to return the car.

The price is based on a Suzuki Vitara with an automatic transmission or similar. You can upgrade to a different type of vehicle as an optional extra. Other vehicle types are available upon request.

Driving distance:
This tour covers about 390 kilometers. If you also visit Reykjanes peninsula and the Blue Lagoon the distance covered is about 500 kilometers.

Roughly 290 kilometers on paved roads and the rest on highland tracks.

NOTE:
For most of the summer we have daylight 24/7 so if you do not mind long days you can do some exploring on your own if you have already visited the sites in the itinerary and you want to do and see more.

Where to eat:
There are several places at the beginning of the drive where you can get some lunch and snacks. Before heading inland we recommend purchasing something to eat as there are limited option for food in the highland area.

Driving conditions:
This tour passes through highland roads only suitable for 4x4 vehicles and includes some easy river crossings.
