Travel through south Iceland’s farming lands and black sand beaches, thundering waterfalls, powerful volcanoes and magnificent glaciers on its South Coast in this breath-taking Iceland day trip.
We stop first at SKógafoss waterfall, arguably the country's most iconic waterfall. Viking legends tell of a treasure buried in a cave behind the waterfall.
From Skógafoss you travel east to Sólheimajökull glacier for an easy hike on the ancient ice of Sólheimajökull glacier, accompanied by a knowledgeable and certified glacier guide.
A leisurely stroll along the black sand beach of Reynisfjara is next, featuring stacks of basalt columns that wall off surrounding cliffs scattered with caves and rise from the sea. Icelandic legend says some of these basalt columns were trolls turned into rock by the rising sun when they came home late after a fishing trip. We top off this amazing tour with a walk behind Seljalandsfoss waterfall.
On a clear day, this trip offers a good view of the famous volcanoes Hekla and Eyjafjallajökull and a glimpse of the Westman Islands, rising steeply from the ocean.
We reserve the right to alter the itinerary if weather conditions change and the glacier walk is cancelled. If this occurs, a visit to the Skogar museum and Vik village is substituted.
Please note: Bring good hiking shoes, hat and gloves for the glacier walk.
