Itinerary


Pick up car and Thingvellir National Park
Pack what you need for the day and don´t forget your camera as it is going to be a picture perfect day. You will be picked up in the morning and taken to the car rental office to receive your car and embark on your day trip.
First up is the historical Thingvellir National Park. The Mid-Atlantic ridge runs right through Thingvellir forming an impressive rift valley where Iceland is drifting apart at the rate of 2 cm per year. Thingvellir National Park was accepted as a UNESCO world heritage site in 2004 and is a place of natural beauty and rich with history.

Geyser hot spring area
After soaking in the inspiring history and natural beauty of Thingvellir continue your journey to the bubling geyser area with it´s numerous hot springs. One of the geyser is called Strokkur and erupts every 8 minutes in a magnificent display of natures power as boiling hot water sprouts 15-20 meters into the air but be carefull not to get to close so you wont get burned.

The Golden Waterfall
Continue your adventure and visit the golden waterfall Gullfoss. Gullfoss is one of Iceland´s most impressive waterfalls and without a doubt the one who attracts most visitors. On a sunny day the mist from Gullfoss waterfall forms several rainbows adding to the pleasent sight of the waterfall.

Volcano Crater Keriđ
Nex up is the volcanic crater Keriđ. Keriđ crater is a volcanic crater 170m wide and 55 meters deep formed 5-6 thousand years ago in a volcanic eruption.

Selfoss Town and Greenhouse Community
Visit Selfoss town on your way back to Reykjavik. You might want to stop at a restaurant/café or even take a relaxing bath in the local swiming pool and hot tubs after a day of sightseeing.
After a visit to Selfoss town proceed to the greenhouse community of Hveragerđi town located in a geothermal area and is mostly known for it´s greenhouses but they are heated by geothermal energy.
From Hveragerđi head back to Reykjavik and then further to the amazing Blue Lagoon for a relaxing bath after a day filled with sightseeing and adventure. After a soak in the mineral rich waters head back to Reykjavik to return the car.

In Winter:
You might want to keep the car for the night if you want to go on a hunt for the inspiring northern lights. The car does not have to be returned until 08:00 the next morning the latest.

Pricing policy:

Full Payment is required for day tours at the time of booking.

Type of car: The price is based on a Hyundai i20 with an automatic transmission or similar. You can upgrade to a larger vehicle as an optional extra. Other vehicle types are available upon request.

Driving Distance:
This tour covers approximately 330 kilometres with a visit to the Blue Lagoon. Those who prefer not to go to the Blue Lagoon can expect to be driving about 245 kilometres.

NOTE: For most of the summer we have daylight 24/7 so if you do not mind long days you can do some exploring on your own if you have already visited the sites in the itinerary and you want to do and see more.

Where to eat:
There are several places on the Golden Circle rout where you can get some lunch and snacks.

In Winter:
We recommend using a 4x4 vehicle for this tour from October 1st - April 30th as there is a chance of encountering snow.
In winter you might want to keep the car for the night to go out on a hunt for the Northern Lights.

Driving conditions:
All roads are paved on this rout and well maintained. In winter all cars are equipped with special winter tires for safety.
