Itinerary

Day 1. Arrival in Iceland



Your winter holiday in Iceland begins with Flybus shuttle transport to your accommodation in Reykjavík. There are plenty of ways to enjoy the city, and we will provide lots of suggestions for your first evening.


Day 2. Reykjavík Sightseeing - Blue Lagoon - Reykjanes Peninsula



Your Icelandic experience really gets going today, with a packed schedule of sightseeing and experiences. The day includes:

• a guided sightseeing tour of Reykjavík
• a trip to the Reykjanes peninsula – a landscape of coastal villages, mountain scenery and hot springs
• a visit to the amazing Blue Lagoon, where you can relax in the famous blue geothermal waters and experience a phenomenon of nature
• the first of two overnight stays in an Icelandic cottage
• A Northern Lights adventure wouldn't be complete without heading out in search of Aurora Borealis – seeing the Northern Lights is dependent on the conditions, and your guide will give you a talk about this powerful natural event and the best chance of seeing them.


Day 3. The Stunning South Coast with optional glacier hike



A day of adventure along the south coast with its many treasures, including:

Eyjafjallajökull glacier – the amazing volcanic glacier
Seljalandsfoss waterfall – you can even climb behind the waterfall and watch it from the inside
Skógafoss waterfall – one of the best in Iceland
• A trip to a folk museum – you will learn about Iceland's culture and past
• An optional glacier hike – on Sólheimajökull Glacier Tongue - booked online on Day 2, our guide assists if needed. The special price for tour members is ISK 14.310.- and is paid directly to the glacier hike company on day 3 - Icelandic Krona - cash only!
• The black beach and bird cliffs of Reynisfjara for the participants not going on a glacier hike
• Another insight into the stunning power of the Northern Lights – and hopefully an opportunity to see them work their magic


Day 4. Icelandic Horses and the Golden Circle



Your final full day includes the most famous attractions in Iceland – the classic must-see destinations of the 'Golden Circle'. You will also get an insight into the very special character of Icelandic horses and a visit to a geothermal greenhouse.
The day's tour includes:

Geysir – the site of bubbling pools, hot springs and the geyser Strokkur, which erupts into the air every few minutes
Gullfoss – one of Iceland's most powerful and popular waterfalls
Ţingvellir National Park – a site of enormous cultural, natural and historical interest, where tectonic plates meet and the first parliament was established

Depending on conditions you may head out again in search of the Northern Lights.
An optional Northern Lights evening cruise can be booked for this day if the weather conditions are good.


Day 5. Departure


Individual transfer by Flybus airport shuttle from your accommodation in Reykjavík to Keflavík airport.

  • Cancellation:
  • A cancellation fee of 20% of the tour price and accommodation will be retained by us for cancellations made from 4 to 8 weeks before departure.
  • A cancellation fee of 50% applies for bookings cancelled 14-28 days prior to tour start.
  • No refund is possible for cancellations less than 14 days before departure, or for no shows, and for a tour begun but not completed.
  • CHILDREN DISCOUNT:
  • 25 % discount for children 8-11 years of age if sharing room with parents. Tour is not recommended for children younger than eight years of age. Triple rooms are actually double rooms with extra bed and ideal for 2 adults and 1 child.

Optional glacier hike:
Duration of this activity is approximately 3 hours in total, about 90 minutes on the ice and about 30-40 min walk (one-way) from the car park to the glacier edge itself. The minimum age for the glacier hike is 10 years. You need to bring warm clothing, rain gear and hiking boots. The glacier hike can only be booked with the guide on day 2. You will have to fill in and sign an order form, once done a cancellation is not possible. Glacier hike bookings have to be finalized with the guide by noon on day 2 of the tour. Bookings afterwards cannot be accommodated as we need to order the glacier guides 24 hours prior to the tour. The special price for the Land of Northern Lights group members is from ISK 14.310 (about EUR 105 per person). Payment is due with the glacier hike company on day 3.

Note Itineraries may be subject to change at short notice during severe weather conditions and certain outdoor activities/day trips may be cancelled during the winter season in Iceland. In these rare cases, where situations of force majeure apply, excursions/activities cannot be refunded but the local guides will try their best to find reasonable alternatives where and whenever possible.

Payment:
A non refundable deposit of 20%, of the total package price should reach Iceland Road Trip within 2 days of confirmation of booking and full payment not later than 6 weeks prior to tour departure. In case of delay on payments, Iceland Road Trip will reserve the right to treat this as a cancellation and withdraw its confirmation of the services.
Every detail regarding the booking must be included, in order for Iceland Road Trip to ensure efficiency, including the passengers name, flight information, all accommodation, tours and other services.

Insurance:
To avoid dispute in case of cancellation, we strongly recommend that our clients purchase a comprehensive travel insurance in their home country, that covers your cost should you have to cancel your tour. This kind of travel insurance is usually not expensive and it frequently covers other risks too.
