Itinerary

Day 1. South Coast with Glacier Walk and Ice Cave exploration
You will be picked up at your accommodation in Reykjavík early in the morning by your guide and driver. Please note that pick up is not available at some of the hotels in the city center of Reykjavik. Instead, pick up will be at special bus stops in the city center. The tour starts by leaving the capital heading east towards the picturesque south coast. The further east we get the more stunning the scenery becomes. Numerous waterfalls tumble down from steep cliffs and giant glaciers and vast black deserts form sharp contrast. We stop at the picturesque little village of Vík at the foot of the ice cap Mýrdalsjökull and we will go on an exciting glacier walkwo explore an ice cave. We will reach our luxurious 4-star hotel in time for dinner (not included). In the evening we will be on the lookout for the magical lights of the winter sky, the Aurora Borealis, hoping they will make an appearance for us.

Day 2. Icebergs and Black Beaches
After breakfast we continue further east to Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon filled with huge floating icebergs that have broken off from the glacier. Here we also get to see the diamond beach where icebergs appear as diamonds on the black sand beach. After having admired this spectacle of ice and water we will. In the afternoon we start our journey back to Reykjavik. On the way we take time to ramble along the black beach of Reynisfjara, being aware of the huge and powerful waves of the Atlantic Ocean, and to take a close look at the beautiful waterfalls Skógafoss and Seljalandsfoss before returning to Reykjavik in late afternoon/early evening.
