Take a full and varied tour of Iceland's natural treasures. A world of volcanoes, glaciers, hot springs and waterfalls, where you can interact with the raw energy of the landscape. This tour takes you on a journey through some of the best natural attractions of South Iceland, and beyond - to the majestic Westman Islands. Every day reveals something special: whether it's black sand beaches, glacial lagoons, exploding geysers or just breath-taking views across a unique landscape. There are so many geological wonders to discover on your journey. From the notorious Eyjafjallajökull Volcano, to Europe's largest glacier, Vatnajökull – Iceland is a truly special land of natural treasures. This packed trip through many of Iceland's best destinations makes an unforgettable Icelandic holiday.

Itinerary

Day 1. Arrival

An optional transfer from airport to accommodation in Reykjavík (not included but can be added on request). Spend the rest of the day exploring Reykjavík on your own. Dinner is on your own. Reykjavik offers a multitude of restaurants and/or coffee-houses, making dinner a great way to get better acquainted with Iceland's capital.


Day 2. Westman Islands
The first full day of your trip sees you leave Reykjavík and head to the raw and rugged beauty of the incredible Westman Islands.

• You'll travel along the south coast to Landeyjahöfn harbor and stop at Seljalandsfoss waterfall on the way.
• Then you'll take a 30 minute ferry ride to the Westman Islands.
• There you will explore Heimaey, the largest island in the Westman Islands archipelago.
• In Heimaey you'll visit Stórhöfđi where you can sometimes see puffins, walk up to the crater of a volcano that erupted only three decades ago, visit Eldheimar Museum and explore flora of the new lava field.
• The afternoon will be free at leisure to explore the island on your own.
• Overnight in Westman Islands. Dinner is on your own.

Day 3. South Shore - Skógar - Vík

The second day of your trip takes you on the ferry back to the mainland, show you the majestic Skógarfoss waterfall and the beautiful town of Vík:

• You'll continue through the pleasant farmlands, mountain views and glacial rivers of the south coast
• There will be a stop at the breath-taking Skogarfoss Waterfall – one of the largest in Iceland
• There'll be a stop at the black sands ofReynisfjara beach with the amazing basalt column features and the powerful waves
• The day ends with dinner and the first of two nights in the Vík area

Day 4. Vík - Skaftafell – Fjallsárlón Glacier Lagoon

A day that takes you into the heart of some of Iceland's most breath-taking scenery - with incredible views of Vatnajökull Glacier – the largest in Europe.

• Crossing Eldhraun – a vast and dramatic lava field, known for being the largest lava mass ever to flow on the face of the Earth
Kirkjubaejarklaustur – a small village of great historical interest as the former site of a 12th-century Catholic convent
Skaftafell National Park – this area is truly one of the most breath-taking jewels of Icelandic nature
• Stunning Fjallsárlón Ice Lagoon – with floating icebergs
• The day ends by heading back to the lovely surroundings of Vík for dinner and overnight stay

Day 5. Gullfoss Waterfall - Geysir Geothermal area - Ţingvellir National Park

Today you'll visit some of the most famous destinations in Iceland, and more. The highlights include:

• A visit to the Lava Centre which is an interactive, high-tech educational exhibition depicting volcanic activity, earthquakes and the creation of Iceland over millions of years.
• A stop at the Geysir – an otherworldly geothermal area, with its bubbling pools and steaming hot springs, and the geyser Strokkur, which erupts high into the air every few minutes
Gullfoss - one of Iceland's most magnificent waterfalls, which thunders into the Hvítá River
Ţingvellir National Park – an area of incredible geological, historical and cultural interest, both the site of the world's first parliament and the meeting point for two tectonic plates
• The trip ends by returning to Reykjavík and dinner is on your own in one of Reykjavík's many restaurants.

Day 6. Departure
An optional transfer from your accommodation to Keflavík International Airport (not included but can be added). It is recommended to depart your hotel no later than 3 hours before your international flight.
