Itinerary

Day 1. Arrival



An optional transfer from airport to accommodation in Reykjavík (not included but can be added on request). Spend the rest of the day exploring Reykjavík on your own.
Dinner is on your own. Reykjavik offers a multitude of restaurants and/or coffee-houses, making dinner a great way to get better acquainted with Iceland's capital.

Please note guaranteed early check-in is not included in the price. Most hotels begin check-in between 14:00 and 16:00 (2:00pm and 4:00pm).


Day 2. Westman Islands


The first full day of your trip sees you leave Reykjavík and head to the raw and rugged beauty of the incredible Westman Islands.

• A visit to the Lava Centre which is an interactive, high-tech exhibition about volcanoes and earthquakes and how they have shaped Iceland.
• You'll travel along the south coast to Landeyjahöfn harbor and stop at Seljalandsfoss waterfall on the way.
• Then you'll take a 30 minute ferry ride to the Westman Islands.
• There you will explore Heimaey, the largest island in the Westman Islands archipelago.
• In Heimaey you'll visit Stórhöfđi where you can sometimes see puffins, walk up to the crater of a volcano that erupted only three decades ago, visit Eldheimar Museum and explore flora of the new lava field.
• The afternoon will be free at leisure to explore the island on your own.
• Overnight in Westman Islands. Dinner is on your own.

Day 3. South Shore - Skógar - Vík



The second day of your trip takes you on the ferry back to the mainland, show you the majestic Skógarfoss waterfall and the beautiful town of Vík:

• You'll continue through the pleasant farmlands, mountain views and glacial rivers of the south coast
• There will be a stop at the breath-taking Skogarfoss Waterfall – one of the largest in Iceland
• Then you will continue to Sólheimajökull, a glacier outlet from Mýrdalsjökull Glacier, where you can choose one of the two unforgettable glacier activities - Glacier Hike or Glacier View Kayaking.
• There'll be a stop at the black sands ofReynisfjara beach with the amazing basalt column features and the powerful waves
• Overnight stay in Vik. Dinner is on your own.

Day 4. Vík - Skaftafell – Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon



A day that takes you into the heart of some of Iceland's most breath-taking scenery - with incredible views of Vatnajökull Glacier – the largest in Europe.

• Crossing Eldhraun – a vast and dramatic lava field, known for being the largest lava mass ever to flow on the face of the Earth
Skaftafell National Park – this area is truly one of the most breath-taking jewels of Icelandic nature
• Stunning Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon – with floating icebergs
• Nearby is the Diamond Beach, a black sand area where broken bits of ice bergs come to rest before they eventually drift to sea.
• Head to another Iceberg Lagoon and take a Zodiac boat tour.
• The day ends by heading back to the lovely surroundings of Vík.
• Dinner and overnight stay in Vik.

Day 5. Gullfoss Waterfall - Geysir Geothermal area - Ţingvellir National Park



Today you'll visit some of the most famous destinations in Iceland, and more. The highlights include:

• A stop at the Geysir – an otherworldly geothermal area, with its bubbling pools and steaming hot springs, and the geyser Strokkur, which erupts high into the air every few minutes
Gullfoss - one of Iceland's most magnificent waterfalls, which thunders into the Hvítá River
Ţingvellir National Park – an area of incredible geological, historical and cultural interest, both the site of the world's first parliament and the meeting point for two tectonic plates
• The trip ends by returning to Reykjavík.
• Overnight stay in Reykjavik. Dinner is on your own in one of Reykjavík's many restaurants.

Day 6. Departure



Breakfast at your hotel. Please note that this might be a light breakfast if you are taking an early morning flight. Transfer on your own to the international airport for your departure flight.

Every detail regarding the booking must be included, in order for Iceland Road Trip to ensure efficiency, including the passengers´ name, flight information, all accommodation, tours and other services.

Child 8-11 years sharing a double room with 2 adults will receive a 25% discount from the listed package price.

Children 12 years and older pay full price as adults.
It is not recommended that children 0-7 years old travel on scheduled tours.
