Day 2. Stunning Waterfalls - Black Beaches - Glaciers and Volcanoes

You will be picked up by your guide in the morning and you will begin your Icelandic adventure. The first stop of the day will be Hverageri, a small town with many steaming vents and where hot spring water is used for heating greenhouses. As you will continue to the South Coast you will pass the infamous Eyjafjallaj÷kull Glacier and a volcano that last erupted in 2010. You will stop at two inspiring waterfalls ľ Seljalandsfoss and Skˇgafoss. During the summer time you can take a walk behind the falls of Seljalandsfoss. Your journey will continue to the Dyrhˇlaey Headland, a natural reserve where many seabirds nest in the summer and the spectacular black beach at the Reynisdrangar Pinnacles on your way to the charming town of Vik, the southernmost town in the country. More stops are about to come across the Mřrdalssandur floodplains and Eldhraun, the most extensive lava field ever to flow on Earth in historical time: town of KirkjubŠjarklaustur, Fjarßrglj˙fur Canyon and the Kirkjugˇlfi (the Church Floor). The Church floor is a protected natural monument of basalt columns that have been eroded and shaped by water and wind, however they do like man-made.

Optional Extra:

Day 3. Skaftafell National Park - Glacial Lagoon

Today you will continue across Skeidarßrsandur, a black sand desert, washed down by the numerous glacial rivers that originate at the nearby Vatnaj÷kull Glacier, the largest in Europe, and the place where a sub-glacial eruption took place in the GrÝmsv÷tn Volcano, beneath Vatnaj÷kull Icecap, in 2011. The powerful eruption quickly broke the ice cover of the glacier and began spewing ash into the air in a magnificent display. The first stop will be the Skaftafell National Park, an oasis at the foot of the glacier that is famous for its tranquil, but rugged natural beauty. Your guide will show you some of the most popular sites in the National Park. This is a perfect place for calm and easy hikes. After the National Park you head to J÷kulsarlˇn Glacial Lagoon, considered by many to be the greatest natural sight in the country and where large icebergs float in the crystal clear lagoon. You might even spot some seals in the lagoon. After the scenic adventures you will head back to Hella town and have a good night rest.

Optional Extra:

Day 4. Volcanic Crater - Geysers - The Golden Waterfall - Ůingvellir National Park

It┤s time to head inland and stop at the impressive Keri Volcanic Crater, then further inland to Faxi Waterfall. You will then continue on to see the famous Geysir and Strokkur Geysers. Strokkur is an active geyser that spouts boiling hot water 15 to 20 meters up every few minutes. Only short distance from the Geysir Geothermal Area you will find the majestic Gullfoss, also known as the Golden Waterfall, which is one of the largest waterfalls in Iceland. After Gullfoss you will be heading to Ůingvellir National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and the place where the Icelandic Parliament was established in 930. It is located on the spot where two continental plates meet creating a fascinating rift valley. Ůingvellir is mysteriously beautiful despite its rugged lunar-like landscapes. Then you will be heading across Mosfellsheii Heath back to ReykjavÝk.

Day 5. Reykjanes Peninsula - Lunar Landscapes - The Blue Lagoon

Once again you will be picked up by your guide in the morning and this time you will head to explore Reykjanes Peninsula. Here you can enjoy a relaxing bath in the mineral rich waters and apply some of the silica mud to rejuvenate and your soften skin. At the Blue Lagoon, you can enjoy a stroll, dine at the Lava Restaurant, get a massage, and visit the Blue Lagoon CafÚ. It's a great place to collect your thoughts after your days exploring Iceland.
